Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Stracynski (Um, Babylon 5) is taking us back to the Forbidden Planet, and no, not the overgrown kid toyshop.

The 50′s cult sci-fi remake has been rumored for years with James Cameron (Piranha 2) and David Twohy (Pitch Black) having both been attached to the project at various times.

Finally Warners have snapped up the rights, though it remains unclear as to whether or not Leslie Neilsen will reprise his role.

But before everyone gets all touchy about another Hollywood remake bastardizing a classic, let’s not forget that the original was itself a re-imagining of Shakespeare’s Tempest.

Theater fans from the 15th century are said to be outraged at yet another example the future’s lack of creativity…
