WOLVERINE TO GO SOLO!!!
Like many fans, whenever I hear about a comic being made into a live action film, I panic. There are a few which have been successful, but the majority of them are shockingly bad. Frankly, to see another X-men movie akin to the last three may well make me lose faith in the film industry altogether.
Upon hearing the news that Gavin Hood had decided to make a Wolverine centred film, I was instantly trawling the web for information. Just from reading the synopsis, I felt the familiar fear rising in my throat. Will this just be another attempt at making some money off the back of a popular comic? The actual storyline seems to be somewhat correct – although I admit I am confused as to why it is only now that Gambit is making an appearance – with the addition of Silverfox and Victor Creed.
It is dangerous water which Hood treads, though. Wolverine is arguably one of the most popular comic book characters – especially for Marvel. If they get it right it could be comparable to the Dark Knight in its critical acclaim. However, if it is done badly, it will be thrown on the pile with so many other failed superhero movies.
So far they don’t seem to be doing too badly – at least they’ve managed to get the character names right.
