Elijah Wood may be making an apperance in the second part of the new Tolkien film The Hobbit, directed by Guillermo del Toro. This is because the film creators have made a decision to bring in other tales and incorporate them.

According to Wood himself, this is being done to “bridge the gap between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings chronologically”. That, presumably, will aid any confusion people will have in understanding that The Hobbit is a prequel not a sequel.

The only logical time to incorporate Frodo is right at the end, when he is adopted by Bilbo Baggins, so hopefully this will be the path that the writers choose.

Never fear though, precious ones. Gollum will be back.
