The successful manga Astro Boy has been remade as a film. It surrounds a Pinnochio-esque theme, about a scientist making a robotic boy in the image of his dead son.

But it’s nothing like the Disney classic in terms of what Astro Boy himself goes on to do. Initially rejected, he fights crime and battles robots etc, to ultimately “bond with his father”.

I think I speak for everyone when I say…HUH?!

However, despite it’s somewhat unorthadox story, it has some great voice actors; Bill Nighy, Nicholas Cage, Matt Lucas and Kristen Bell are amongst the cast.

I’ve been saving the really bad news til last. It’s directed by none other than David Bowers, the man who gave us Flushed Away.

Yikes.
