XBox 360; Upcoming Games of 2009!

Today we’re going to have a look at the upcoming releases for Xbox 360, in 2009. Maybe I should’ve called this ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’…

The Godfather II

This sequel is inspired by the films as well as Mario Puzo Coreleone’s family drama; putting the player in the 1960′s organised crime scenes of Florida, Cuba and New York. Your goal is to build up families and cities through ‘extorting businesses, monopolizing illegal crime rings and defeating new families in an effort to be the most powerful mob in America’. Cool.

It’s not dissimilar to the new GTA games, as gameplay is ‘open’ and there is brutality a-plenty. Good news for those who enjoy that type of gaming. Personally, I find it a little bit samey; it’s not the type of game I’d want to play again and again, therefore in my mind a waste of money for me to buy.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, this new game the player assumes the role of Batman, as he delivers the Joker to Arkham Asylum. Unbeknownst to the caped crusader, however, the super-villians of Gotham City have set a trap; thus a combat experience unfolds.

With a script penned by Award Winning Batman writer Paul Dini, it sounds as if Rocksteady are onto a winner. However, if it’s anything like the old Superman game, we should be very worried.

Crash Time

For all the gamers who love racing, I thought I would include this little gem. Crash Time alllows the player to become part of the ‘Cobra 11′ policing team, with gameplay split into various cases which you must solve in order to progress. It’s nice to see them getting away from the typical Gran Turismo gaming, and actually including a bit of story. Me likey.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2

This game is a combination of the GUNDAM universe, and the furious tactile gameplay of the Dynasty Warriors series. The game (of course) includes epic battles, against legions of mobile suits as well as against colossal enemies such as Psycho Gundam. Also, there is an option of versus play; so if you feel like kicking some serious butt, you can strut your stuff in the battle mode.

Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard

In this shoot ‘em up, Matt Hazard gets to prove he is the best gun hero; pitted against new and memorable foes from the past. However, Matt realises that this game has been made to get rid of him once and for all, so he must fight to get prevent it being ‘Game Over’. Cheesy as hell, but has got potential to be at least mildly interesting.
