Battlestar Galactica Prequel Confirmed!

That’s right Battlestar fans, buckle your seatbelts and get ready for a new movie. The film has finally been given the greenlight by the Sci-Fi Channel.

Caprica as the film is called, will encompass the world of (strangely) Caprica, and the power struggle between two families. This whole shebang takes place 50 years before Galactica, and therefore concerns the creation of artificial intelligence and cybernetic clones (Cyclones for short…catchy).

The great thing about this film, is that it will not only appeal to Sci-Fi fans, but also anyone else who enjoys a good ‘family drama’. The main reason being there will be no starships; space opera this ain’t. It also hopes to deal with ethnical concerns raised by the whole AI issue.

It’s set to release sometime in 2010 – filming will be getting underway in Vancouver in 09.

But fear not spaceship fans, there is still the second half of the Battlestar Galactica TV series to air next year so that should keep you happy for a minute or so. I shouldn’t worry though, if the film industry sees this kind of film working there will be Spaceship Star Wars BattleTrek 1000 on the market before you know it.
