Do you remember the first time you watched the crazy family who live at 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield? Well, this year is a milestone for not only The Simpsons cast and crew, but also animated TV programmes. The world famous Simpsons celebrated their 20th anniversary on the 17th, which means that it is the longest running animated TV programme…well, ever. (They have in fact run for longer, if you include the Tracy Ullman Show 30 second shorts.)

Impressive, no?

You have to hand it to Matt Groening, he’s done pretty damned well. I bet when he first sketched out the characters, he never imagined in his wildest dreams that he would receive such critical acclaim – and well deserved too.

Well, I reckon the next ones to do it will be Family Guy. Don’t worry, Seth. Only another 11 years to go!
