The Best Simpsons Games!
Following The Simpsons feature yesterday, I thought that it would be interesting to look back at some of the games that star the Springfieldian cast.
The Simpsons Road Rage
In 2001 a rather chunky CG Simpsons which is an unashamed copy of the Sega hit Crazy Taxi for any long term gamers. The levels are big and there is plenty to destroy, it’s got some good entertaining parts too. Every characters is voiced by the proper actor so there are no rubbish imitation Homer-likes which are frankly just annoying at the best of times.
The Simpsons Skateboarding
The Simpsons went head to head Tony Hawk style on a skateboarding themed game in 2002. (We can only assume that Bart held the writers at gunpoint) Springfield has been turned into one giant skatepark where you can compete in contests, go freestyle or play multiplayer with friends. Although it was sluggish and probably got a bit boring after a while, you can’t deny your desire to skate off the Nuclear Power Plant.
The Simpsons Hit and Run
Back in ’03, the Simpsons released a new game which strangely follows the GTA theme. If GTA was taken over by a crazy yellow cartoon world. It’s got nice control and a nice mix of story and driving in a typical looney Simpsons style. Gamemaster magazine gave it a 80% at the time, quite good for a Simpsons game.
The Simpsons DS Game
The yellow family hit the Nintendo DS with a game released last year in November. With all new powers, you have to navigate the Simspon family through a chaotic world. It’s an interesting combo with the touch screen and the fact that it isn’t a CG game like so many these days. It was also released on Wii, PSP, X Box 360 and Playstation 2/3.
