Analyst: Legend of Zelda returning in 2009
Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian recently compiled a list of games that he expects to come out next year which he figures will drive industry growth by 5%.
He listed 22 games in total but perhaps most surprising of all is his prediction that Nintendo will release a new Zelda despite no real conformation that the title is anywhere near completion.
In my opinion we wont see a new Zelda on the Wii this year, it may get announced for 2010, accompanied with some exciting trailers but released, no.
A game like Zelda needs at least 12 months worth of hyped screenshots and industry tipped speculation before it launches and as we’ve yet to have any of these hit the web with any authority the likelihood of the game coming out any time soon remains unlikely.
I expect the first screenshots to “leak” just after the new Punchout releases’ as Nintendo will want to heavily promote that game and any Zelda news could distract attention.
