Slumdog Millionaire Wins Again!

There seems to be an endless string of praise surrounding Danny Boyle’s new film. It has scooped up no less than five awards in the Calafornian People’s Choice Awards including Best Film and Best Director.

This put the smash hit The Dark Knight in the shade somewhat, as it only collected a modest two awards for Best Action Movie and Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger’s legendary portrayal of The Joker (And rightly so).

Other awards to mention went to Sean Penn for his fantastic acting in the impressive movie Milk, where he played the openly gay politician Harvey Milk. He swiped an award for Best Actor as well as one which was shared for Best Acting Ensemble.

As for Slumdog Millionaire, Boyle must feel very confident waltzing into the Oscars with all these awards under his belt. I haven’t seen such a low budget movie do this well in a long while. I suppose it just shows that people really are focused on the narrative despite their love of special effects.

Or maybe it’s just because Boyle has a huge fanbase.
