Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock has become the first single game to hit the $1 billion sales mark.

Due in no small part to the scores of DLC on both the PSN and Xbox Live, the games amazing sales have also been helped by the fact that it was released on all major formats including the PS2.

Downloads for the game currently stands at 1 million while the relatively expensive entry point, ($69.99 with the guitar) doesn’t harm things either.

Considering we’re in a global economic crisis these sales figures are phenomenal.

Now you can begin to see why Brett Ratner wants to make a movie based on the game, even if it’s shit (which it will be) the curiosity value alone will guarantee a huge opening weekend.
