G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra – August

Based on the 1980s cartoon and popular comic book franchise; G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra is a strange one.  Of course fanboys are going to go watch it but who else?

Helmed by Stephen Sommers, who was responsible for the Mummy films, G.I Joe looks like it could be another Van Helsing for the director which means, too much hype and not enough substance.

And trust me; the hype on this one is gonna be loud come the films release.

Fanboys – February

Fanboys just sounds fun.  It’s a comedy about a group of fanatical Star Wars fans who attempt to steal an early print of The Phantom Menace for their dying friend.

This is sounds both funny and touching, and although I hated Phantom Menace I did spend a full six months in rabid anticipation prior to its release, so I know I’ll be able to empathize with the Fanboys.

Count me in on this one.

Star Trek – May

J.J. Abrams attempts to breathe some fresh air into the winded Star Trek franchise with a story set immediately before the action of the first TV series.

Winona Ryder looks set for a return to the big leagues as Amanda Grayson – Spock’s mum. British geek god Simon Pegg turns up as Scotty, and Zachary Quinto the dark presence at the heart of TV’s Heroes certainly looks the part as a young Spock.

Expect a convoluted time travel plot, some Kirk flirting, transporter accidents and dare I predict; a “beam me up Scotty” quote just to validate an age old misconception?
