Video Games Kick Ass In 2008!

Video game sales had an amazing 2008 outselling both DVD’s and Blu-ray’s.

Taking a whopping 53% of the home entertainment market, video games are finally begining to punch their own weight.  No longer can video games be considered a niche market when as an Industry, it’s equal to, if not greater than the movie industry.

These latest figures only serve to legitimaze the video games industry.

53% of the home entertainment industry equates to a cool 61 million dollars.  These figures come from Media Control Gfk International, who in my opinion, have too much time on their hands.

With DVD sales slowly declining as the medium gets less desirable, more people will look to adopt the Blu-ray platform, which whatever way you look at it, takes the largest part of a thousand dollars to get the best out of.

And in these times of economic crisis, people will be reluctant to spend money on a dying medium (DVD’s) and / or unable to ugrade to the new, faster, sexier medium (Blu-ray).

So, look for 2009 to be the year where video games dominate the home entertainment industry with a monster share of sales in their favor.
