It seems that Warner Bros. have decided to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise and are apparently looking to do so without Angelina Jolie.

Is this good news or bad news?

I don’t know…

I suppose it’s good news if, like me, you felt the first two Tomb Raider movies were shit.  They felt like straight to DVD movies which happened to have big budgets.

With the slow decline in popularity of Lara Croft’s exploits in the gaming world, a new movie which is darker in tone could be just what the iconic Miss Croft needs to get herself back in the limelight.

If they take a darker, grittier approach then a new Tomb Raider movie could work, but if they just place a Megan Fox-esq actress in it and fill it with explosions and wetsuits then no one is going to benefit.

Before I get excited I’ll wait to see who they cast as Lara.

Warner Bros will begin filming next year ready for a 2011 release.
