Dual BAFTA Nominations For Kate!
The recent double Golden Globe winner Kate Winslet has now attained two nominations for best actress at the British Academy Film Awards. She has already won previously for her role in Sense and Sensibility, in which she played Marianne Dashwood. This time she is nominated for roles in her films Revolutionary Road and The Reader. However, one should point out that this is the second time Winslet has received two best actress Bafta nods in the same year, having been shortlisted in 2005 for Finding Neverland and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The actress was also nominated in 2002 for Iris and in 2007 for Little Children. Kate faces these competitors in her catagory:…
Jackie Chan To Play Mr. Miyagi!
Jackie Chan has been confirmed as Mr. Miyagi in the upcoming Karate Kid remake. With Will Smith’s son Jaden playing the role of Daniel-san, the Karate Kid remake was already sounding shit but now that Chan is attached, well, things have just gone from bad to worse. Using someone as famous as Jackie Chan will no doubt be a boost at the Box Office but I fear that ultimately, his casting will have a negative effect on the film’s overall effect. The original movie was always about Daniel-san and his struggle to overcome the bullies while Mr. Miyagi taught him Karate. I can’t help but worry that due to Chan’s international stature the film will…
Samuel L Jackson Out As Nick Fury?
It seems that the role of Nick Fury in the upcoming Marvel films could end up being played by someone other than Samuel L Jackson. Jackson had this to say on the matter… “There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don’t know. Maybe I won’t be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they're saying to me], ‘We’re not making that deal.’” Obviously Jackson’s demands are too high high for the studio but I wouldn’t rule out Jackson reprising his role just yet. Jackson going public with his…
Khan Is Dead!
Ricardo Montalban died yesterday aged 88 from, basically, old age. Fellow nerds will remember Montalban as Khan from the classic Star Trek II – Wrath Of Khan. This is a very sad time for actors lately. Montalban made his name in TV’s Fantasy Island which I never watched. I will remember him for the Khan role in both the original Star Trek series and subsequent movie. Star Trek fans have lost one of their most iconic bad guys. Tweet This Post
Will Smith To Be Captain Nemo?
Director McG wants Will Smith to play Captain Nemo in his upcoming 20,000 leagues under the Sea adaptation. Mmm, not sure what to make of this, anyway, here’s what the Terminator Salvation director had to say on the issue… “The character Nemo in this film is more about obsession, he is obsessed and people tend to forget that when you become so obsessed you end up being the villain. Man I’m trying to get Will Smith to do it, been trying to get a hold of him. I’ve been wanting to work with him for a long time already. That guy’s great.” Will Smith as Captain Nemo? Well, it will take some getting used to…
