Zack Snyder Confirms That He Won’t Direct Any Watchmen Sequel!

The question on everybodies’ lips at them moment seems to be will there be a Watchmen sequel?

The question should be should there be?

One word; no.

Two words; definitely not.

Even director Zack Snyder doesn’t think so…

“I don’t know that they would get any of those actors to do it, and I know that I wouldn’t have anything to do with it.”

Which basically reiterates his earlier comments on the matter…

“There can’t be a sequel. … There can’t be a prequel. Not with me involved, anyway. … They might be able to find someone to do it, but it wouldn’t be me. That’s crazy talk.”

Even Malin Akerman, who plays Silk Spectre 2 doesn’t sound convinced by the idea…

“It would be interesting to see,” she told the site. “But I don’t really know how [a sequel] would ever be possible. Because Watchmen is Watchmen, and we covered pretty much the whole novel.  I’m not sure if there are talks of it,” Akerman said about a sequel. “If no one wants to watch it, then why do it?”

Exactly, why do it?

I’m yet to be convinced that Watchmen will warrant a sequel, I just can’t see it doing the expected numbers at the box office.  For me, Superhero movies changed after Dark Knight and a property like Watchmen will be the first casualty of this new era of the genre.

It has very little name recognition for the masses and from the trailers looks, to the uneducated eye as nothing more than a serious version of Ben Stiller’s Mystery Men.

I really hope I’m wrong on this one but I see Watchmen being somewhat ignored at the Box Office.
