Another Superhero Spoof for Stiller!
Anyone remember the good old film Mystery Men? Well, for those who don’t allow me to enlighten your closed minds. It was a film about some misfit superheroes with questionable superpowers who are trying desperately to keep up with the big time heroes. Stiller played the somewhat lovable crazy Mr. Furious, whose power was that he had “super strength” when he got angry. Think of a rubbish version of the Hulk and you’re about there…
Well, the conculsion to that lengthy intro is that Stiller has decided to venture once again into the world of superhero spoofs, this time alongside Tina Fey and Robert Downey Jr. The difference is that it’s directed by Dreamworks.
Oh and did I mention that it’s animated?
Well, that’s the angle for the upcoming movie Master Mind. It’s a difficult thing to encroach on the superhero movie via the animation medium – as the highly accredited film The Incredibles has monopolised the market, really. However, this one has an interesting twist to it. It’s not about a superhero, it’s about a supervillian. The storyline follows a supervillian who has killed his nemesis and finds himself at a loss of what to do.
Ben Stiller is also producing this film, and I really hope that he puts some of the type of humour that made Mystery Men so special to me into his new flick. It was such an underrated movie.
The release date has already been set at November 5th 2010, so keep your eyes peeled for more news as it comes in. I’m looking forwards to it already.
