Sony News – PSP 3000 To Be Released In 3 Colours!
BySony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced the upcoming launch of three new colours for the PlayStation Portable-3000, according to gamesindustry.biz.
The PSP-3000 will be available in Mystic Silver and Pearl White this month, and in Radiant Red from March. (Why do they always give such fancy names? It’s just silver, white and red at the end of the day…)
The PSP-3000 was unveiled at the Leipzig Games Convention last year. It represents the latest iteration on the handheld, with an enhanced screen, built-in camera and microphone.
Sound familiar? You’re probably thinking of the new DSi, which shows huge similarities. It just shows the way the portable gaming market is headed, and one can only presume it’s to keep up with the mobile gaming market.
As for the present, things are looking up for the Sony’s portable gaming device. The new title released on the PSP Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, has shot to the top of the Japanese software sales chart. This displaces Wii Play: Mario Tennis – which is an achievement in itself. In it’s first week alone, it has sold 213,000 units.
The week ending February 1st saw a number of new titles enter the charts in Japan, with Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 debuting on both the PSP and PlayStation 2 . These titles smoothly slid into second and third place, selling 109,000 and 108,000 units respectively.
For the DS fans, such as myself, the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time debuted this week and took fourth place, selling 102,000 units. Then we’re back to PSP title’s once again as Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G secured fifth place.
