Samuel Bayer has been chosen to direct the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street remake.

Bayer, best known for directing Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ video is somewhat of a surprising choice to the take charge of such a famous remake.

The film itself will apparently stay true to the source material.  Hopefully we’ll get to see more of Freddy Kruger when he was alive.  To me, a living Freddy Kruger is more frightening than the dead burnt one we all know and love.

I’d absolutely love it if they did a Nightmare on Elm Street prequel which shows Freddy before he died.
