That’s right, the rough and ready one eyed S.H.I.E.L.D leader is going to be played by Mr. Samuel L himself. It’s not really news, as the sting was played after the Iron Man credits.

For those who aren’t familiar with the comic books, Nick Fury is responsible for recruiting Stark into his “Avengers” initiative. This sits nicely with future installments to the Marvel comics – namely Iron Man, The Avengers, Captain America, Stilt Man etc. He does bear a remarkable resemblence to the S.H.I.E.L.D member, so it isn’t exactly rocket science to choose him for the role.

What many may not know is that there has been doubt cast over the whole Jackson/Fury idea. Over the past few weeks Jackson’s commitment to the project seemed in doubt, with the actor himself openly admitting that a deal had not been struck with the comic giant.

However, all doubt has been completely erradicated today, as Marvel have now announced that Jackson has signed a deal to play Fury in the forthcoming sequel Iron Man 2. But not only that. Oh no. He has also agreed to play Fury in up to nine other projects (including a possible S.H.I.E.L.D movie).

I cannot wait to see him in action in Iron Man 2. Just goes to show that good casting can be done, and when it is…well, it’s something special – as we saw with The Dark Knight. Jackson as Fury? I say bring it on.
