Green Lantern: First Light, the first animated straight to DVD movie for the DC Comic’s ring-bearing superhero was announced at Wondercon this past Friday in San Francisco.

The movie will be released by Warner Home Video on July 28th and come in three flavors, a Blu-Ray version, a special edition two-disc DVD and a single “bare bones” DVD.

Reservoir Dogs star Michael Madsen has signed up for voice-acting duties, while Lauren Montgomery, who voiced the Green Lantern in both the DVD movies of Wonder Woman and Superman: Doomsday, will reprise his role.

The movie will be a Hal Jordan origin story which sees him recruited to the Green Lantern Corps.
