Halo 3 developer Bungie have announced that Halo 3 has been played over 1 billion times.

This is a major milestone for Halo, one of many it has reached.

To date, Halo 3 has sold 5.73 million copies in the US alone.

In actual gaming time terms, 1 billion Halo 3 online gaming sessions equates to 64,109 years.

64,109 years!

Bungie was kind enough to point out that 64,109 years ago, Neanderthals were still walking the Earth.

Halo 3 is nothing short of a global phenomenon.
