Petition Alert – More Hellraiser Reboot Talk!

Director Pascal Laugier, who is attached to oversee the reboot of Hellraiser has been spewing typical Hollywood psychobabble about the upcoming project using terms like “transgressive material” and attempting to explain to us, the ignorant masses, the differences between a remake and a reboot.

Anyway, I’ll leave it to Pascal to explain…

“The idea behind Hellraiser is not to do a remake – it’s to do what they call a reboot – that is to say, a new version. So what I am proposing to Dimension, the studio behing Hellraiser, is some elements coming from the first film mixed with brand new stuff.”

Um, that’s a remake isn’t it?

Anyway, he went on to say…

“My main problem, honestly, with the Hellraiser reboot is that Hellraiser is very transgressive material. It deals with S$M and gay issues, and I really want to be faithful to the book and Clive Barker’s world. I don’t want to betray him. So if I have the feeling that I am being asked by Hollywood to soften the franchise, I will leave in a blink.”

I have a plan, let’s make that blink happen.

If we get enough comments regarding his pretentious definition of a reboot then I swear, hand on heart, that I will make sure the people in Dimension see them all.

So come on, let’s explain to Pascal what the difference is between a remake and a reboot in terms that he’ll understand.
