On the day I should be spending quality time with my wonderful Mother, what am I doing?  Blogging whilst installing Ubuntu 9.04 (alpha) on my netbook, not exactly “fun for all the family”!  Hopefully I will get a chance to call my Mum soon enough, but until then I will have make do with highlighting my geek treats from the past week.

Following us on Twitter is a really easy way of subscribing to our blog, everytime we post a new blog we send a message updating all of our followers on twitter, if you are in the right part of the world, you can even choose to have this sent to your mobile phone!

I have also been trying to burn off my spare tyre (which would probably be useful for a Land Rover right now), running is a good and cheap way of getting fit, and hopefully will contribute to helping me loose weight.  I tried to geekify my running experience by mapping everything on http://www.mapmyrun.com but to be honest it seemed a lot of effort for very little return, now if I had an iPhon there are some cool tools to help me, but I do not *grump*.  I am going to have to settle for scouring the running blogs to help my choose my new running shoes (I am currently feeling that New Balance or Brookes will be the way to go, what do you think?).

I have a decent amount of time to myself this week (as my lovely wife is going to London for a couple of days) so I plan to put some time into helping out with Nerdles.  I am looking to write a mini-howto-guide for our writers get the most out of WordPress, our blogging platform (not that I am an expert, but I know more than Griff!).  I also hope to spend some time exploring free, multiplayer online games, I want to start a Nerdles league!
