Top 3 Hacks for the Xbox – Cheapskate Geek.

This week we are going to take a look at hacking the 1st generation of Microsoft’s X-Box.  This awesome console was hacked before most people had completed Halo on Legendary!  There are quite a few hardware and software hacks for the X-Box, in this blog we are going to look at my three favourite hacks:

1.      Xbox Media Centre.  Turn your Xbox into an awesome media centre, this is so easy (instructions if you click the link above) and so cool.  I am tempted to buy another (I have now gotten rid of my 1st gen. Xbox) Xbox just to run this setup!

2.      Xbox Linux.  Turn your Xbox into a working PC.  This won’t replicate a modern PC, but got £20 and a little effort, you get a wicked machine, that is very cool!  Ideal for a junior geek’s bedroom (stop them putting there sticky fingers all over your macbook pro!).

3.      Xbox Hackintosh.  I have never met anyone cool enough to have rocked this.  I want to meet you if you have done this to your Xbox.  I will buy you a beer, but I need hard evidence that you aren’t lying to me!  Just click the link and read.  Then daydream about how cool this is, daydream about how upset the macboy/iClone in your office would be if you brought this hackintosh into work.  There is a dangerous side to making a hackintosh, apart from the fact it’s a teensy weensy bit illegal you may also fall in love with OSX and then you may dream about owning a Mac.  Be careful kids, hackintosh is a gateway hack. As the instructions are complicated I will drop some hints.

a.       Bit Torrent may help you with an OSX Image pre-fixed for xbox

b.      That’s all I had to say.

c.       Lists are really nice.

I have another dreamy x-box hack.  I hope to see photos of you all trying this hack, very soon.
