Forget your troubles, come on get happy…you’ve got to chase all your cares away!

Oh, the sultry tones of Judy Garland. She was one of a kind, for sure (you know, back when beautiful was beautiful and actresses were actually talented). Now she is going to be immortalised in a biopic, set to star Ann Hathaway playing the Wizard of Oz star herself.

The film is entitled – unsurprisingly – Get Happy, after one of the singers best known tracks. Ann Hathaway certainly has a good voice, as we heard in Phantom of the Opera, but emulating Judy Garland is no mean feat. I hope that she can live up to the expectations which will be resting on her pretty little head.

Incidentally, if any of you saw Little Voice with Jane Horrocks, I thought that she captured Judy pretty well – and she was only meant to be impersonating her, so it is definitely plausable. But, it has to be right otherwise it could be atrocious.

Judy – most famous for her role as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz – married Vincente Minelli and had one daughter, the well known Liza Minelli. She was only 47 when she died of an ‘accidental drug overdose’ (and I seem to recall there being a bit of controversy surrounding it as some believe that she potentially commited suicide…).

Bit of trivia for you, she was born Frances Ethel Gumm. No wonder she changed to Judy Garland. (Then went on to give her daughter an equally cruel name). Anyway, that is all that is known so far about the upcoming flick, but we’ll update you as soon as more news is released.
