In only 15 months, the ever popular game Rock Band has managed to break the $1 billion dollar boundary in USA, according to gamesindustry.biz. The title, which belongs to Harmonix, has also had over 40 million tracks downloaded via their Rock Band Website since the launch in 2007. All this has made it the number one title in terms of revenue in the USA.

As many of you know, over 600 songs are offered for Rock Band, both on-disc and through the in-game music store, from 269 different artists. The creators – Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy – won an award last night (namely the Pioneer Award) for their creativity, at the Game Developers Choice Awards.

Just goes to show how mental the human race is. We’re spending all this money to hit plastic drums and strum plastic guitars, instead of learning the instruments themselves. You have to applaud the genius who one day decided to make that fantasy a reality. Applaud him, then kill him.
