Who here loves Simon Pegg? (I’m currently raising my arm and jumping around emphatically)

Well, Star Trek fans will already know that he’s in the new film (apparently playing Scotty…or should I say bizzarely?), but today we have received the news that he will also be voicing a character in the new addition to the Blue Sky Studios series, namely Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

I’m probably right in assuming that this is his first venture into the frozen wastelands of voice acting (and boy am I jealous of him..). But I can’t think of anyone better suited to voicing a character – especially in what probably promises to be a somewhat dull movie. Why is it that they’re turning the animation industry into something which is merely focused on making moolah? It’s an art-form for goodness sakes. Have a little dignity, please (As I say this, Shrek 2000 is in production).

Anyway, the character which Pegg will be voicing is a one-eyed, swashbucking weasel called Buck. Buck helps Manny, Sid and Diego, as the plummet into the completely nonsensical realm, where Dinosaurs apparently exist (seriously bending history here guys). Buck apparently holds a grudge towards a dinosaur called Rudy who took his eye, leaving him in his currently cycloptic state.

It’s released 1st July 2009. God help us all.
