According to wellknown video gaming outlet GAME, pre-orders for the Nintendo DSi have more than doubled when compared with those of it’s predescessor the DS Lite.

Due to this, several ‘select’ branches will be hosting midnight openings on April 3rd for the launch, which will allow everyone who pre-ordered to grab their console as soon as possible. After the pre-order collection, GAME will open at 7am and begin selling what is left off to those who are fortunate enough to have the time and money to get themselves one of the snazzy portable devices. Anna Macario, the marketing director at GAME, stated that:

“We’re looking forward to welcoming our customers at midnight or first thing on Friday morning who have been eagerly waiting this new hardware from Nintendo. We know they’ll want to get their hands on it at the earliest opportunity so we’ve made it as easy as possible. The launch of a new Nintendo handheld is always a major event, and our customers know that GAME will do everything possible to help them buy one as quickly as they can.

“We’ve worked very hard with Nintendo to create a high impact campaign on high streets and in shopping centres all over the UK, so customers will be very aware of the launch. There will be a lot of activity in our stores to help customers upgrade to the DSi, and get some great deals and products at the same time.”

I’ve still got a DS Lite and am happy with it, but I’m intriuged to see what all the fuss is about. I might start saving up to get myself one so that I can pass my own judgement as to whether it is really worth all the hype.
