That’s right – the Green Lantern is going to be shooting in Oz, sources stated today.

Martin Campbell’s superhero flick (once more following the current trend) is based on the DC comic about an ordinary man who is transformed into a hero when he wields an all-powerful ring.

According to Empire, the news was announced by New South Wales’ premier Nathan Rees, who added that the move would create about 500 jobs for the Australian film industry, with digital effects work also taking place in Australia.

However, Green Lantern isn’t the only film to be moving over to Australia. Happy Feet 2 and Guardians of Ga’Hoole (which is the new Zac Snyder film) are also moving themselves to sunnier climates.

I don’t know about you, but right now I’m trying to imagine the Green Lantern with an Aussie accent.
