Online Gaming 4 Dummies – Black Prophecy and Dragon Sky 2 MMOs 4 America
Hello everyone and welcome to another installment of Online Games 4 Dummies. I apologize in advance for the length of this post. Originally, I planned to do a full review of one of the games I’m current in closed beta for: Free Realms by Sony Entertainment. However, due to unforeseen circumstances (flash drive wipe), I lost the post and quickly had to retype something else. As a result, this post is much shorter than originally planned, but I hope to have you the full coverage later this week. Enjoy!
Black Prophecy – Deep Space Nine Meets MMO
Earlier this week, Reakktor Media revealed their new space themed MMO, Black Prophecy. Now, if you have ever player Galactic Civilizations you will have a pretty good idea of how this game plays out. In the 26th century, the humans have spread all around the galaxy, and in true human fashion, have strived for more and more power. As a result, two enhanced “superhuman” species have evolved: the genetically enhanced Genides and the cybernetically enhance Tyi (Pronounced “Tai”). As the two fight against each other, another alien race has been discovered, the Restorers, who are not too happy with the human invaders. You will play as one of the two human super species and pilot spaceships in instanced missions in order to achieve victory over you enemies. Not too much has been released on the fighting system, or how your race’s strengths and weakness will play a part, since you will pilot space ships, but the game looks promising. The graphics are out of this world, however will more than likely require high powered equipment to run at the highest settings. Currently in closed beta, the game is looking at a late 2009, early 2010 release. I’ve already filled out a beta application and hope to hear from Reakktor Media soon with an acceptance e-mail. If you’d like more information about the game, you can follow all the updates at the official website www.blackprophecy-game.com.
Dragon Sky – Chinese Martial Arts Comes to America
Aeria Games, the people who bring you Twelve Sky and Shaiya, have release information that they have acquired the rights to publish the chinese martial arts game, Dragon Sky. The game looks promising, especially following on the footsteps of Shaiya, one of the most successful free to play MMOs on the market. According to MMOsite.com, the game features fast pace, real time combat in the form of chinese martial arts, using a variety of weapons. There is a full range of things to do, including an auction house, crafting system, and dual system. The graphics look very nice, on par of that of Perfect World, and above that of many other free to play MMOs on the market. Currently in closed beta, expect more coverage once my beta application has been accepted. For more information, or to fill out your own beta form, visit the website at dragonsky.aeriagames.com.
Well that’s it everyone, and thanks for reading another entry in Online Games 4 Dummies. Come back later this week for full coverage of the upcoming game Free Realms, published by Sony Entertainment. And remember, read Nerdles.com for all your nerd related news!

With regards to Black Prophecy – beta is still internal at the moment – according to interviews Reakktor are waiting on a publisher before beginning the public beta, so don't go expecting that confirmation email anytime soon.
We do know a fair bit about the fighting system – as you can see from the gameplay trailer, it's a space-combat sim, where you directly fly the ship with mouse or joystick. You have four weapon slots plus two missile slots, which you appear to be able to group, mechwarrior style.
