Aardman – King of the Stop Motion Animated films – are firstly taking on Pirates!, which is based off the best selling series of books by Gideon Defoe. Prepare yourselves for (another) swashbuckling adventure which sees a group of pirates meeting with Charles Darwin (didn’t see that one coming did you?) and a talking chimp named Mr. Bobo to do battle with a mysterious enemy…

Their other upcoming flick is called Arthur Christmas. This, conversely, will be following the ever increasing trend of CGI. Following the poor (and understandably so) returns of Flushed Away you can only wonder as to why they have opted to go down this route.

Flushed Away incidentally also led to the breakup of Aardman and DreamWorks Animation in favour of a deal with Sony, and a two year hiatus from making features until now.

Arthur Christmas is a story depicting the way in which Santa is able to deliver all his presents in one night. The most interesting fact to note is that the script is being put together by Borat’s own Barry Cook. Interesting choice…
