Family Guy To Take On Hollywood?
Seth MacFarlane has just revealed that 20th Century Fox are now “in the early stages” of making a feature film for everyones favourite family – the Griffins. MacFarlane admitted that he already has a story idea for the Family Guy silver screen debut.
“We want to do it,” he said. “Fox wants it. We know what we want to do with it. It’s just a question of finding the time. That’s why The Simpsons took so many years to do theirs. It wasn’t because they didn’t know what they wanted to do with it. They just couldn’t fit it into the schedule.”
Rightly and wisely he added that the “workload” for an animated show is “twice as much as you have to do for live-action”. And you can double that by the fact that Family Guy is 2D rather than computer generated. That is unless they go down the rather rocky path that The Simpsons Movie took.
Regardless, Seth added:
“We’re finding time where we can. We’re in the early stages right now.”
All I can say is that if it centres around either Stewie or Brian you’ve got a winner. Peg it on Lois, Chris or Meg and you’re in trouble. Their sustainability as characters won’t hold interest for 2 hours at the cinema, in my opinion. That said I’m looking forwards to it.
