Is Call of Duty Going to be the Next Game-to-Film?

Call of Duty is now being considered as a flick for the big screen. Activision won’t give more details than the fact that it is being discussed, therefore sadly we can neither confirm nor deny the news at presetn.

The series of war games – which has had massive popularity since the release of the first – have all (bar one) been set in WWII. This possibly presents an obvious pathway for the scriptwriters to take. But a WWII film? How cliche is that? Saving Private Ryan, amongst others, springs to mind.

Still, the tried and tested storylines will most likely make more money than taking a gamble on something original and completely unaccessable. Hopefully we’ll have more news on the progress of the movie – unfortunately all we can do now is theorise about it. Personally, I dislike war films, but I enjoy war games. Although I enjoy Call of Duty as a game, I doubt I’d bother visiting the cinema to see it.
