Rumour has it that Chris Hemsworth is going to be cast as Thor in the new film. Hensworth’s first fame came as an actor in the Australian soap Home and Away, and more recently he was cast in the new Star Trek movie, playing the role of George Kirk (Captian Kirks father).

Thor, conversely, is the story of the Thunder God who has a massive hammer, and is more prone to creating storms than beaming up. Hemsworths leap between the two may seem strange, but he seems to keep going from strength to strength, having already been cast in the remake of Red Dawn. If the rumour is true then it has most definitely been a good year for soap actors.
