Guillermo del Toro has announced that he is “very close” to revealing the cast for his upcoming adaptation of The Hobbit.

Talking to MTV, he revealed that he is almost ready to announce the final cast.

This is what he had to say…

“I believe we’re very close now to saying one name.”

Seriously, I’m pretty giddy at the thought of a Hobbit movie and although I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I always felt that a Hobbit movie would be better.

The Hobbit is scheduled for a 2012 release and will be split into two movies.
