Behind The Screen!
Well, after my tribute to David Carradine last week, which was written as the breaking news was just released, it turns out that it may have been a sex act gone wrong. Or Ninja’s. That’s the way I wanna go, shrouded in mystery as to whether I died due to sexual deviance or Ninja’s got to me. It’s all made me really worry about Ralph Macchio – ‘the crane’ technique sounds dodgy enough, get that wrong while you’re waxing on and you can forget about waxing off. Anyway, this week’s TV news…
So once again I have more ‘24′ news. ‘Battlestar Gallactica’ hottie Katee Sackhoff is joining the cast! She has been cast to play series regular Dana Walsh, a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU.
Apparently the character will be in a relationship with fellow agent Davis Cole, played by Freddie Prinze. Jr. as reported last week (god I hate him even more), and she apparently has a skeleton in her closet she’s trying desperately to keep hidden. Hopefully it isn’t David Carradine.
As I previously reported, ‘24′s eighth season – which premieres January 17th, 2010 – will be set in the Big Apple and center on an assassination plot against a visiting foreign leader (Slumdog Millionaire’s Anil Kapoor). In addition to Sackhoff and Prinze, new Day 8 blood includes Forrest Gump’s Mykelti Williamson, Kissing Jessica Stein’s Jennifer Westfeldt (as a journalist with ties to Kapoor’s diplomat), and The Starter Wife’s Chris Diamantopoulos (as President Taylor’s Chief of Staff).
British actor Ray Park, whose starred as the uber cool Darth Maul in ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’, is joining the cast of ‘Heroes’ for its next season. Additionally, Deanne Bray (Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, The L Word) has inked a deal to come on board for multiple episodes.
No real ideas yet as to the characters each actor will play, although they keep snapping up pretty decent actors for this new series which is encouraging. In addition to Park and Bray, ‘Heroes’ fourth season will welcome ‘Prison Break’s Robert Knepper (as a new villain) and Californication’s Madeline Zima (as Claire’s quirky college roommate).
Sadly, Patrick Swayze’s TV show ‘The Beast’ has been cancelled.
The Ghost star filmed 13 episodes of the series last summer while he underwent treatment for pancreatic cancer, and had been unable to promote the show when he dealt with a bout of pneumonia in January.
“He had challenges while he was working because he was still doing chemo and it wasn’t always easy but in spite of all of that, he’d suit up and show up,” his wife Lisa Niemi said. “He was always there.” The actor, 56, had also received praise for his professionalism from co-stars.
As said previously I really enjoyed the show which aired on FX in the UK, and thought Swayze’s performances were excellent in the gritty drama. Disappointing.
Good news everybody! Animated comedy ‘Futurama’ is to return to US TV screens on Comedy Central in 2010 with 26 new episodes – seven years after it was axed by Fox!
No doubt due to the success of the recently released DVD specials which sold well across the board.
Creators Matt Groening and David X Cohen said they were “excited and amazed” the show was returning. Groening, who as we know also created ‘The Simpsons’, said: “We’re thrilled ‘Futurama’ is coming back.”We now have only 25,766 episodes to make before we catch up with Bender and Fry in the year 3000.” Comedy Central’s David Bernath said there remained “a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show that matches perfectly with our audience”. “It’s fantastic that we can add brand new installments of Leela, Fry and Bender’s adventures to our existing library,” he added. Good stuff!
That’s it for this week folks, enjoy the weekend!
