Behind The Screen!
So this week has seen the start of Wimbledon on our screens, and as expected 99% of British competitors are already out of the tournament. As we are not used to having such nice sunny weather when Wimbledon starts, the authorities have decided to allow Andy Murray in to the next round as he is so dour he maintains the equilibrium. I don’t understand why anyone’s competing anyway, apparently President Ahmadinejad has already won.
So before I get shot…
Seth MacFarlane will recur on exciting up and coming series ‘FlashForward’, it has been announced!
The ‘Family Guy’ creator recently appeared in the pilot for ABC’s new drama, and executive producers David Goyer and Marc Guggenheim have confirmed that he has a recurring role on the series. Goyer said that MacFarlane asked if there was a part for him on the show, before they cast him as an FBI agent.
“Seth called me up. He said ‘I f**king love this script,” Goyer revealed. Why is it I see a drunken Brian in a bar while reading that line?
Meg Ryan, former girl-next-door type hottie and now fish face woman, has signed up to make a guest appearance on one of my favourite shows, HBO comedy series ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.
The actress will guest star in an upcoming episode of the new season; that I personally can’t wait for. The Larry David-created cult show will reportedly also feature a multi-episode storyline with the reunion of the ‘Seinfeld’ cast.
‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ will enter its seventh season this autumn in the US and hopefully in the UK not long after.
Bryan Fuller has quit his role as lead writer on ‘Heroes’, it has been confirmed; which, after exciting new cast appointments, could be bad news.
The 39-year old was a key part of the show’s production team during its first season but left in 2007 to create his own series, ‘Pushing Daisies’ (Which in fairness was shocking).
When ‘Daisies’ was axed at the end of last year, Fuller returned to the fold at ‘Heroes’ to help turn around its fortunes and seemed to reinvigorate the show. In recent months, the writer has been masterminding storylines for the upcoming fourth season also.
According to reports, Fuller decided to depart ‘Heroes’ last week in order to concentrate on developing new projects for NBC. He has previously expressed an interest in creating a new ‘Star Trek‘ TV series. Don’t do a ‘Pushing Daisies’ to the Trek, please.
British actor Callum Blue has joined the cast of ‘Smallville’. Following last weeks column in which I told you of a few cast updates for the new series, I can now confirm that Blue will play General Zod, the main man’s arch nemesis, in the CW show’s upcoming ninth season.
He has previously appeared in ‘The Tudors’, ‘Dirt’ and ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’. Saucy devil.
Meghan Markle has joined the cast of ‘Fringe’.
The actress, who recently guest starred as Wendy in crappy remake for the ‘yeah whateverrrrrr’ brigade, ‘90210’, has been cast in the recurring role of a ‘quick-witted junior FBI agent’. That must be a challenging role after ‘90210’.
Markle will join Joshua Jackson and John Noble on screen when the series returns for its second season later this year.
Adrianne Palicki’s has signed on to reprise her role as Sam’s ill-fated ex, Jessica, on ‘Supernatural’. The most recent series of the show ended this Sunday on ITV2 in the UK.
As you know, Jessica was whacked by a demon in the ‘Supernatural’ pilot. She reappeared at the end of season 2 during Dean’s genie-granting alternate reality head-trip, but hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Details regarding Palicki’s return engagement are hush hush at the mo.
The ‘Friday Night Lights’ actress is also expected to return to that show later in the year for a multi-episode arc to wrap up her character, Tyra,’s story. (I like ‘Friday Night Lights’, shhhhh).
Lastly, ‘celebrity blogger’ and gossip monger Perez Hilton posted a video blog this week after he’d allegedly been beaten up by members of the Black Eyed Peas and their entourage. He also posted on his Twitter page ‘I’m in shock, I need the Police ASAP’. Who Twitter’s the Police!? Is this where we’re heading now? –
@thepolice, am currently being stabbed WTF, please attended ASAP. Would explain extent of injuries but not enough character spa’
Take care, and remember, if you actually need the police the weekend dial 911 or 999 respectively!
