It seems that the Will Smith / Steven Spielberg remake of the cult South Korean film, Old Boy has run into difficulties.

The trouble comes from the fact that although the movie was part of director Park Chan-Wook’s Vengeance Trilogy, it was itself based on a Japanese manga, which means that Smith and Spielberg don’t quite have the rights they thought they did.

Hopefully this movie will not get made. Personally I just cannot see Smith and Spielberg delivering the type of movie that an Old Boy remake needs to be.
