Green Lantern fans, get ready to shake your collective heads in disgust.

Justin Timberlake is reportedly being lined up to play the iconic DC superhero in the upcoming movie adaptation.

Seriously, I’m not joking here. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Timblerlake is on a short list of three (with Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper making up the rest of the shortlist.)

Although Timberlake has dabbled in the movies before with roles in Alpha Dog and the abysmal Love Guru, if he lands the role of Green Lantern, it will mark the first time he’s played lead on a major motion picture.

All I can possibly say is, if this happens, God bless Warner Brothers!

Green Lantern is due to hit cinemas on June 17, 2011.
