It has been confirmed that martial arts superstar Jackie Chan will play the iconic role of Mr. Miyagi in the upcoming remake of 80′s classic The Karate Kid.

The Karate Kid went into production this past weekend and stars Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith as the titled Karate Kid.

Personally, I was secretly hoping that all this talk of remaking the Karate Kid was just hot air, and that hopefully the project would die quietly, but after they started shooting this past Saturday, it seems that my worst nightmares are indeed going to come true.

The idea of remaking The Karate Kid isn’t a bad idea as remakes go, it’s just the fact that Will Smith is behind it and he’s chosen his own son for the lead. I mean, what’s wrong with buying the kid a bike or something? Why do you have to buy the rights to one of the most memorable films of my youth and give the lead to your son as a present?

Why Will, why?

I guess that deep down I’m just jealous that my Dad didn’t do shit like that for me.
