Empire magazine have managed to snag the first look at the new poster for Disney’s upcoming Prince of Persia movie and man does it look pretty sweet.

I’ve purposely stayed away from the hype surrounding this movie but after seeing the new poster I’m officially as excited as a Bishop with a car full of puppies.

Initially I had my doubts regarding Jake Gyllenhaal’s casting as the Prince, due mainly to the fact that I’ve never seen a Gyllenhaal performance that I didn’t hate. For me, the guy is somewhat overrated but just looking at the poster instantly made me forget all the negative feelings I have towards the guy. Now, I can’t think of anyone else I want for the role.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is directed by Mike Newel (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) who, it must be said, doesn’t make bad movies, couple this with the casting of Alfred Molina (Doc Ock) and you’ve got yourself as close to a sure-thing as there is in the movie industry, (in my opinion.)

Seriously, it looks like this is the beginning of a new Pirates-style franchise for Disney.

Can’t wait!
