Spider-man director Sam Raimi is going to direct the upcoming World of Warcraft movie.

Raimi, who has previous experience with making period / fantasy movies with Army of Darkness is a massive fan of the MMORPG.

Warner Bros. will co-produce with Legendary Pictures, who had this to say; “Partnering with Sam Raimi exemplifies Legendary’s mandate of marrying the highest quality intellectual property to world class filmmakers. Sam’s passion for Warcraft is undeniable and we know that he will create an incredible film worthy of Blizzard’s phenomenal franchise. We look forward to collaborating with our partners at Warner Bros. and continuing our successful relationship with Chuck (who?) in bringing this rich new world to the screen.”

I’ve never played World of Warcraft, not because I don’t want to or because I in some way look down my nose at those 10 million or so who do, but because I know once I start I’ll become hooked and subsequently lose both my job and my girlfriend.

But a movie?
