Despite X-Men Origins: Wolverine taking a beating at the hands of fans and critics alike earlier this year, it seems we’re still going to get a sequel.

Hugh Jackman was talking to MTV about the status of Wolverine 2…

“Japan is where we’re heading, and we’re starting to work on it now. We’re in the first steps of developing that story.”

The story he’s referring to is Chris Claremont’s and Frank Miller’s four issue mini series that went into print in the eighties. It focused on Wolverine traveling to Japan to find his lover Mariko Yashida when he comes up against ‘The Hand,’ the leader of a ninja clan who Wolverine pisses off.

I really wish Fox would give the rights to the Wolverine character back to Marvel. Fox are only interested in one-off-cash-ins and have no idea how to develop a story arc. The first Wolverine was abysmal with little if any redeeming features. The fact that they could take one of the most interesting superhero characters in recent history and render him one-dimensional is shocking and surely a crime to both cinema and the comic industry.

That they want to inflict upon us another 90-minute-piece-of-shit excuse for a movie is insulting.

Add to that that they’ve got the cheek to actually think that by sending Wolverine to Japan to recreate a cult story arc will somehow make up for the crock of shit first film is amazingly offensive.

Ahem, I’m all dizzy now…

Anyway, like I said before I went on my rant; Fox should give the property back to Marvel where it belongs.  The damage they have done to Wolverine isn’t irreversable by any means, he just needs a little TLC and he’s not going to get that over at Fox.
