Nintendo To Release ‘Vitality Sensor’ In 2010!
Nintendo president Saturo Iwata has announced that that stupid looking ‘Vitality Sensor’ Nintendo showed off at their E3 conference, you remember; that peripheral that they had no idea what to do with? Yeah, that one…Anyway, Iwata has revealed that it’s hitting stores next year.
So, the only question that needs answering now that we have a release date is, other than read your pulse, what does it do?
For the answer to that little brain teaser we only have to look at what Iwata himself said during a Q1 2009 briefing with investors and media…
“We are conducting some tests internally at Nintendo, and found some patterns among our employees, like improving automatic nerve condition as they weekend nears or vice versa. Seeing what their condition is actually like, they can visualize how they are looking forward to the weekend. And see completely different patterns on each individual person.”
So, after all this time in development the only practical use they can find for the peripheral is to make it compatible with the Visualizer from Windows Media Player?
I’ve always thought the Nintendo magic would run out sooner or later and it seems we now have a date; 2010.
There’s so many things wrong with the concept of the ‘Vitality Sensor’ that I don’t know where to begin so I’ll just say this; if the ‘Vitality Sensor’ doesn’t flop then we as a society deserve to get hit by an asteroid the size of North America.
