Michael Bay is being tipped to produce the movie adaptation of “I am number 4″, a novel about some aliens who escape to Earth after their home planet has been destroyed by their enemy and disguise themselves as teenagers only to find that said enemy has followed them to Earth and wants them dead.

The novel, “I am number 4″ was co-written by “A million little pieces” author James Frey and Jobie Hughes and will be adapted for the silver-screen by Al Gough and Milles Millar.

Whether or not Bay will take up the directing duties is unclear though after the critical mess that was Transformers 2 I expect him to stay out of the limelight on this one.
