It has been reported that Disney are to buy Marvel for a whopping $4bn!

The news hit the net yesterday that the mega corporation wants to own Marvel and is prepared to pay that astronomical fee. As of yet the deal hasn’t quite gone through, it has to be approved by the Marvel shareholders and the competition authorities but if it does go through, who do you think will be benefiting the most?

It would be easy to say Marvel but perhaps the answer isn’t so clear cut. Okay, $4bn is a lot of money, a hell of a lot of money actually but Marvel are sitting on some of the hottest licensed properties in the world today and when you consider that a single Batman movie (Marvel own DC Comics) can bring you a billion at the box office, is it such a good deal after all?

Only time will tell I suppose but if I was the Marvel shareholders I wouldn’t be too happy about the deal, especially when you consider that only now Marvel are beginning to find their groove with their movie adaptations.
