CBS Television Studios have enlisted writing duo Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci to pen the script for the pilot episode of their remake of classic police drama Hawaii Five-O.

The original show which aired from 1968 to 1980 starred Jack Lord as Steve McGarret, who headed up the tough Hawaiian police state which dealt with the toughest criminals and investigated organized crime on the island.

The show entered pop culture with its famous line “book-em, Dano” which McGarret said after he and his partner caught their weekly suspects.

So far, CBS has only ordered a pilot so a full series is quite a long way from being confirmed.

The writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci’s previous TV credits include Alias, Fringe and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys while this summer they dominated the Box Office with both Star Trek and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
