New Star Wars Trilogy Rumors, Are They True Or False?

Aintitcool have reported that one of their ‘insiders’ has claimed that Lucasfilm are planning on producing a brand new trilogy in 3-D.

The article goes on to suugest that should James Cameron’s Avatar be a success then a new trilogy will be greenlighted.

Also, the ‘insider’ claims that George Lucas will not direct any of the new movies in the trilogy, instead choosing to sub them out to such names as Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola.

Here’s the excerpt…

“Well it is coming from a source that SHOULD KNOW. This source is absolutely connected. So odds are it is seriously being talked about at Lucasfilm. Right now. Will it happen? AVATAR will have to hit and hit big and then all the stars have to align properly – all I can do is pass on the info.”

Anyway, the site went direct to Lucasfilm and asked them if the rumors were true, and this was the answer they got…

“We do not have any Star Wars theatrical movies planned.”

So, what should we make of it?

Well, despite the firm denial I suspect that there’s some truth to the rumors, afterll denials mean nothing in this industry…
