The Wire star Idris Elba has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Thor.

Elba will play Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard; Thor’s home-world.

Seriously guys, Thor is going to be absolutely awesome. With Kenneth Branagh at the helm and a cast which comprises of these guys; Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano, how can it not be?

Marvel’s Thor hits cinemas on May 20th, 2011 and begins filming in January.

If I’m this excited now, what am I going to be like this time next year?
